Facebook has created a whole new way to connect with your target audiences. The platform offers a “Custom Audience” advertising feature allowing marketers to connect with existing customers. For instance, when people buy products from e-commerce websites, they give their email addresses. The website brand can then anonymously target those people with relevant ads in their newsfeeds, using knowledge about the purchase to promote an updated or related product.
You can create an audience with a list of names and phone numbers or email addresses in an Excel Spreadsheet like in the following image.
Facebook Lookalike Audiences
When you use Custom Audiences, you can choose to create a lookalike audience that targets people who are similar to your custom audience list. Lookalike Audiences help you reach people who are similar to your current customers for fan acquisition, site registration, off-Facebook purchases, coupon claims and brand awareness.
You can use Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences to target groups of consumers or you can exclude these audiences from your ad targeting. They can also be narrowed down by Facebook targeting including geographic, demographic or interest.
